When Morrisons approached ecogenik with plans to expand the front of their Leek store out into the car park, a brand new hoarding solution was needed.

The priority was to ensure shoppers were fully protected from the building work and the solution is a robust, bespoke temporary tunnel as seen in the photograph on the left and in a series of photographs in the pdf below.

The tunnel which incorporates electric lights along its length ensures that customers have direct access into the store while building work is carried out on both sides and above the tunnel.  The 60 metre tunnel gives shoppers safe access and egress into the car park and the tunnel entrance is situated at a safe distance from where the main work is being carried out.

"This is another example of ecogenik working closely with a client and a contractor (Morrisons and Midas) to find a practical and cost-effective solution that minimises disruption to customers and enables a store to trade as normal during a major expansion project" says ecogenik MD, Tony Doherty.

"In addition to the tunnel we are installing a temporary internal wall and using a combination of three horading panel systems to maintain a safe environment for shoppers, supermarket staff and members of the contractor's team.

"We have used ceilings, lids and walk-on roofs with our systems in the past, but this is the first installation that can truly be called a tunnel."says Tony "We are very confident that other clients and contractors will see a tunnel as the perfect solution when they are faced with a similar set of plans and circumstances."
