Two of central London's most famous hospitals have chosen Ecogenik hoarding systems to screen external building work around their main entrances.

Guy's Hospital faces the site of the London Shard and Ecogenik was approached by the hospital when their procurement team saw the exceptional finish achieved on hoardings around The Shard site, near London Bridge station.

"Guy's already had hoardings in position around their main entrance, but they were poor quality, with uneven joins and gaps in between the panels, which were dangerous and unsightly," says Ecogenik MD, Tony Doherty.

"When they saw the superb graphics and the finish of our hoardings surrounding The Shard site, they wanted to match the quality and replace the hoardings around their main entrance. They certainly wanted a more 'professional' look."

Shortly after the Guy's Hospital installation, Ecogenik was also asked to install a similar system at St Thomas' Hospital, who are part of the same NHS foundation as Guy's. St Thomas' Hospital faces the Houses of Parliament from the opposite bank of the Thames.

The photograph shows the St Thomas' hoarding with Westminster Bridge and Big Ben providing a dramatic background to the hoarding.

The system used is EcogenikUltraspan Extra. Panels are 2.5m high and the neat top and bottom trim ensures a perfect appearance, even though the hoarding is on sloping ground.

The crystal clear vinyl graphics allow the hoarding to act as temporary wayfinding signage, as well as creating a secure and safe hoarding in one of central London's busiest areas.
